Wildflowers are a great addition to any space and you can have a large or small area dedicated to them. They are host to a huge variety of wildlife and they add a lovely splash of colour. They do require maintenance to keep them diverse and most beneficial to wildlife. This is done by cutting them at certain times of the year and taking away the cut material, I do this by using my Scythe.
A low flowering lawn can also be created with wildflowers. This way you can keep a tight cut lawn and still provide food for foraging insects. It increases the diversity in your garden and they look great. Selfheal pictured below is one of many flowering plants that will do well.
Adding wildflowers to your garden is best done by seed or by plug plants in either the Spring or the Autumn.
